The 90th Southport Flower Show opens today and is the largest independent flower show in the country, attracting over 50,000 visitors across 4 days. The theme for this year’s show, which will be officially opened by Strictly Come Dancing judge Bruno Toniolo, is: The Garden Party.
Show Gardens
Arguably the most popular attraction at the show is the highly impressive show gardens. Led by the show theme each year, these incredible gardens are constructed by garden designers and landscapers in just under two weeks. Where better to go to gain some valuable garden inspiration.
Grand Floral Marquee
One of Southport Flower Show’s main highlights is the spectacular Grand Floral Marquee; a treasure trove of quality plants and flowers, trees and shrubs, bonsai, cacti, vegetables and herbs. Visit the Grand Floral Marquee to look, see and smell not only superior quality specimens, but also some of the more unusual plant varieties before you buy and just as importantly, get on the spot advice from the people who actually grew the plants.
The Garden Theatre
Southport Flower Show’s Garden Theatre will feature a number of well-known faces over the 4 days, including: television presenter and gardener Christine Walkden, Gardeners Question Time host Matthew Wilson, television presenter Justin Fletcher, Gardeners’ World presenter Nigel Colburn, award-winning designer and Gardeners’ World presenter Adam Frost, This Morning’s very own Mr Plant Geek Michael Perry and last but not least, legendary Granada TV presenter Paul Crone who will be compèring the show for all four days. Family Entertainment
Southport Flower Show also has a variety of entertainment for the whole family. Once you have viewed the show gardens and floral exhibits you can sit back, relax and enjoy the rest of the entertainment the show has on offer, including: spectacular thrills and amazing performances in the Arena, easy listening at the Piazza Stage in the centre of the showground, and a MineVention Marquee for everyone who is mad about Minecraft.
In addition, the show boasts a food festival with demonstrations planned throughout with 4 days and a unique shopping village where you can explore products from over 350 diverse trade exhibitors.
