During the early part of the year EN Coxhead produces a large variety of perennial and herbaceous plants. They are grown in a variety of sizes from 9cm pots up to 2 litre pots and are available from January through to late Easter.

Perennial Plants
A perennial plant is a plant that lives more than two years. The term is often used to differentiate a plant from shorter-lived annuals and biennials. The term is also widely used to distinguish plants with little or no woody growth from trees and shrubs, which are also technically perennials. Perennials, especially small flowering perennials that grow and bloom over the spring and summer, die back every autumn and winter and then return to give another show of flowers the following spring.
Herbaceous Plants
Herbaceous plants are plants that have no persistent woody stem above ground. The term is mainly applied to perennials, but in botany it may also refer to annuals or biennials. Annual herbaceous plants die completely at the end of the growing season or when they have flowered and fruited, and they then grow again from seed.
Herbaceous Perennials
Herbaceous perennial plants may have stems that die at the end of the growing season, but parts of the plant survive under or close to the ground from season to season. New growth develops from living tissues remaining on or under the ground.
