Carter flat lettuce

Carter is a popular variety of butterhead flat lettuce from Enza Zaden which grows well under glass over winter and features a closed, flat base and strong green leaves which are soft and sweet.

Butterhead lettuce is extremely tender and feature smooth, loosely-coiled leaves. They are known for their ‘buttery’ taste and velvety texture and small loosely formed heads.

Given its smooth, tender, yet strong leaves and mildly sweet flavour, butterhead lettuce is an ideal ingredient for almost any meal, including salads, sandwiches, soups, smoothies and wraps. It is also low in calories with each 3-ounce serving containing approximately 1.1 to 2 grams of carbohydrate, with each gram offering 4 calories.

Butterhead lettuce is also amongst the most nutritious of all commercial lettuces grown today.

Stonsay gem lettuce

Stonsay is a medium green colour, high quality, gem variety of lettuce from Enza Zaden which again grows well under glass over winter and delivers excellent shape with a beautiful fill.

Gem lettuce feature dark green heads with a deliciously crispy texture and sweet, succulent, well-filled hearts. A cross between butterhead and romaine lettuce, gem lettuce has its own uniquely sweet and buttery taste.

Gem lettuce is high in vitamins A, C and K and is also a good source of calcium, potassium, iron and dietary fibre. Like butterhead lettuce, gem lettuce is also very low in calories.
